When one speaks of rock music and western Canada in the same sentence, there is a good chance that Kenny Shields may be the subject of that sentence. Shields was born in Nokomis, SK. in 1947. His passion for music emerged at the age of six when he entered an amateur talent show, and smoked the competition.

Upon graduation from secondary school, he moved to Saskatoon and joined that city’s premiere band – Witness Incorporated – and the professional spotlight first fell upon him. Shields’ lifelong dream started to crystalize: to entertain with music. The band would do just that, playing to dedicated audiences across western Canada. They relocated to Toronto in 1967 and won over the dubious patrons of the Yorkville clubs and The Rockpile. They opened for Cream, toured with Roy Orbison, and issued five singles including “I’ll Forget Her Tomorrow”, “Jezebel” and “Harlem Lady.”

In 1970 Shields was critically injured in an automobile accident that sidetracked him from music for several years. He made one attempt at a comeback with the Regina-based band called Mudd, but realized that although his dream was still intact, he was not yet ready to resume the touring life.

After a further period of convalescence, Shields moved to Winnipeg to join another Saskatchewan band entitled Wascana, which included in its ranks Spider Sinnaeve, Daryl Gutheil, and ex-Witness drummer Craig Kaleal. The voice was re-energized, the stamina returned, the band gelled, and after relocating to Saskatoon, they became Witness again.

While on the Alberta touring circuit, Shields struck up a friendship with the members of The Great Canadian River Race, and in 1976 when Witness finished its run, Shields moved back to Regina in the company of Paul Dean and Matt Frenette. With Spider and Daryl , the five formed the quintessential prairie powerhouse band of the late 1970s and early 1980s – Streetheart.

At their best in a live setting, Streetheart was labelled Canada’s #1 touring band for many years running. They played bars, clubs and arenas from coast to coast sharing the stage with such acts as Chilliwack, Rush, Harlequin, Styx, Max Webster, AC/DC, and April Wine.

Streetheart recorded a total of six studio albums and one double live album. They topped the Canadian charts with a non-stop string of hits including “Action”, “Hollywood”, “Under My Thumb”, “Look In Your Eyes”, “What Kind of Love Is This”, “One More Time” and “Snow White” – all tunes that remain standards on radio playlists to this day. Along the way they earned a total of six gold albums, four platinum albums, a gold single, two Ampex Golden Reel awards, a Music Express Award , a peoples’ choice voted most popular Canadian act and a Juno. And in September 2003, as befits a national institution, Kenny Shields and Streetheart were inducted into the Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Following three years of convalescence from major surgery in 2000, Shields career continues and his dream remains, to entertain with music. The spotlight still shines brightly.

LSL-School Closures School District 67 Parents attempt last effort April 11/16

School Closures School District 67 Parents attempt last effort April 11/16

A small group representing a much larger group presented a proposal to save West Bench and Trout Creek Schools that would instead if correct would not only save the school but as well would give them over $4000.000 in surplus.

The school district trustees said they needed to review the well presented package put together before they could rescind the school closure. Next meeting is on May 7,2016

This is a letter to the editor in the Penticton Herald
Are you aware of the solution that parents from Summerland have innovated to replace the restructuring of all of our schools? Below is a summary of the proposal that will presented at this evening’s school board meeting.

A new preliminary proposal to reopen Trout Creek School as a School of Choice will be presented to the School Board on Monday, April 11. Please come out and show your support! Board Office 6:30 pm.

We are requesting that a Publicly Funded Montessori Program of Choice be added to the existing operations at Trout Creek School. We are discussing the Summerland Montessori Society as the facilitator of the programming. This would recapture our students lost to the independent system and immediately increase the enrollment and funding in Trout Creek School.

There are successful models of this in the 12 Districts in the Lower Mainland and several more throughout BC. At least 4 schools in BC previously slated for closure have been rejuvenated this way. Programs of Choice create access & equality. Schools offering Programs of Choice are sought out as destination education. In fact our Summerland model French Immersion Program of Choice is an excellent example.

Our schools are an integral part of the foundation of a vital, healthy community. In the interest of intersectoral collaboration, we are asking the public, parents, Summerland Council and administration to support this progressive & forward thinking initiative for our neighborhood schools to join together, and truly turn challenge into an exciting opportunity for our community.

If another last-ditch effort fails tonight to save West Bench Elementary, it could turn into a windfall for the Penticton Indian Band’s school.
Outma Sqilx’w Cultural School principal Phil Rathjen said his facility, which currently has the equivalent of 90 full-time students, is in line to get four new classrooms when it reaches 100 kids.
The new space would be created by Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, the federal agency that funds Outma.
Rathjen said he had “a couple” of new registrations for the 2016-17 session in the run-up to the board of the Okanagan Skaha School District voting March 30 to close nearby West Bench Elementary, and going ahead with that decision could very well push Outma over the top.
“We’d be ambitious to say we’re going to get to 100 and we’re going to build, but we’d be hopeful for that,” said Rathjen.
“I think staff are certainly looking forward to the opportunity for expansion, but we certainly don’t want to do it at that cost” of West Bench closing.
Outma has a reciprocal agreement with School District 67 that allows students to transfer between facilities, regardless of their heritage.
That deal, combined with West Bench’s proximity to Outma and its relatively high number of aboriginal kids – estimated by a parents’ group at 40 per cent of the 90 learners there – bodes well for the PIB.
First, however, School District 67 trustees are expected to discuss tonight at their regular meeting a proposal from the West Bench to raise taxes in order to provide a special operating subsidy to help keep the community’s school open.
According to an analysis prepared by Michael Brydon, who represents West Bench on the board of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, a $150,000-a-year operating grant would cost the average homeowner there about $220 annually.
That’s a bargain compared to the estimated $6,000 loss in value an average property owner experienced the moment the decision was made to close the school, concluded Brydon, citing a U.S. study on the issue.
Besides his proposal, trustees are also expected tonight to hear from three parents from Trout Creek, home to another elementary school that’s slated for closure June 30.

South Sudan Facing Hyperinflation – How This Relates To Us

Published on 12 Apr 2016

Author and economic analyst John Sneisen talks to Josh Sigurdson about the hyperinflation that’s plunging the people of South Sudan (a new country) into absolute debt enslavement. We wanted to make the issue clear to people who claim that oil will hold up the fiat dollar ( paper money) in places like Canada and Argentina where clearly, while oil is the main commodity, it is not saving a dollar that’s printed into oblivion and devalued astronomically. The South Sudanese Pound is hitting inflation rates over 200% and shows no sign of stopping. Even with that rate, there is evidence to prove that the inflation rate is actually much higher than is being reported.
We report this after people like Jeff Berwick and Luke Rudkowski visited Venezuela and investigated the hyperinflation that’s taking hold of the country as we’ve previously reported on. While all this evidence of socialist hell destroying economies keeps emanating, there are still so many who message us and claim that all the claims are bogus. We simply want people to listen to us for the sake of what’s to come. We keep putting out information, people don’t listen and then people suffer horrible fates. We want that to change.
We at WAM are all about giving the people information in our opinion, using resources in order to prove our claims so that the individuals watching can take action, stay insured and stay safe.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send them!

“Find the truth, be the change.”

Dane Wigington-Chemtrail Lawsuit to Stop Damaging Spraying Filed in Canada consistently monitors the situation known as “GeoEngineering.” This week, the website founder, Dane Wigington, was interviewed by Hunter regarding the urgent matters at hand.
According to Wigington.
“We have now enough data to prove that the greatest destructive factor, by far, on the ozone layer is geoengineering (chemtrails). It’s disrupting the hydrological cycle and disrupting the planet. We have governmental agencies that are set up to hide this fact from the population or to mask it. . . . We are seeing UVB levels that are a 1,000 % more than we are being told. . . . We have all the data being skewed to hide the severity of what is happening from the population for as long as possible. . . . We have friends behind the curtain that know this is going on and want it to stop. . . . I truly believe we have a growing number of allies behind the curtain that want this to stop as bad as we do. Let’s hope that is true and our allies grow because this is truly an all-out assault on all life on earth. How long can we hold our breath? Any breath we take is laden with these materials. We absolutely know it from lab testing. It’s not speculation or theory or conjecture. We see the human health statistics that are associated with this. The massive Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism and COPD. . . . Anyone who looks up, they can see how incredibly obvious this monstrosity is in our skies.”
Hunter’s interview last sixteen minutes and focuses on a lawsuit filed involving the spraying of chemtrails in Canada. This stuff is real. The term “chemtrails” often causes people to immediately regard any of the information posted as a “conspiracy theory,” however, there is simply too much information available anymore to continue holding it in such cheap and desperate regard.
Scientists who would like to speak out about the harmful effects of climate engineering (chemtrails) are being threatened and gagged as geoengineering researcher Dane Wigington points out, “U.S. government scientists have no First Amendment protection–none. Now, there is a federal gag order on all National Weather Service and all NOAA employees. How much more obvious is this situation, and they are trying to plug leaks in the ship. We have environmental scientists being fired all over. Canada has let go a huge number of their scientists. Australia has fired 450 of their front line environmental scientists. Why? Because they want to cover up what’s happening any way they can.”

Now, Wigington and others have filed a the first of many lawsuits starting with Canada over Damage cause by geoengineering (chemtrails.) Wigington contends, “They are trying to obscure the severity of what is unfolding from the public for as long as possible. If we don’t take care of what is happening in our skies and environment, nothing else is going to matter. . . . Nothing is going to matter soon. That’s how bad it is. . . . What our government and other governments are doing is to try to hide the magnitude of what is unfolding until the last possible moment, at which time total collapse ensues.”
