Radiation emitted from smart meters 100 times greater than cell phones – and exposure is constant, doctors warn

(NaturalNews) Energy companies are billing them as the “green” solution to traditional meters. But are so-called “smart” meters really all that smart? And, more importantly, are they really as safe as we’re all being told they are?

Some 65 million American homes already have them, and more are being converted all the time, even against the will of some homeowners. And yet many doctors agree that smart meters are a potential health threat due to constant releases of radiation.

Smart meters operate via a two-way communications system in which energy usage is tabulated wirelessly inside the meter and transmitted to the energy company that owns it. No longer do energy trucks have to go around town once a month to check individual meters; everything is done automatically and wirelessly. Pretty simple, right?

It might be simple in functionality, but not so much in technicality. The constant pulses of energy as smart meters communicate both with electrical appliances inside the home, and with the energy company, are a radioactive threat that’s about 100 times greater than that of a mobile phone, science has found.

This is a tremendous radioactive load when you consider that smart meters operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The fact that they never turn off means they’re a lot like talking on a cell phone constantly, without end. But, it gets even worse.

Independent studies have revealed that both the strength and frequency of smart meter pulses make them exceptionally threatening. The Center for Electrosmog Prevention, a California nonprofit group, estimates that one smart meter emits the radiation equivalent of about 160 mobile phones. Other studies have concluded that smart meters emit not 100 but 1,000 times the radioactive load of a typical cell phone.

Daniel Hirsch, a radiation expert and instructor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), published a paper refuting the findings of the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST), which concluded based on industry data that smart meters are safer than mobile phones. Hirsh countered that:

“… the cumulative whole body exposure from a Smart Meter at 3 feet appears to be approximately two orders of magnitude higher than that of a cell phone, rather than two orders of magnitude lower.”

Smart meter radiation is a constant threat to the health of you and your family

This is problematic, because electromagnetic pollution like the kind emitted by smart meters is highly damaging to the body. There are reports of chronic headaches, seizures, insomnia, dizziness, heart palpitations, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and other symptoms associated with exposure to smart meters.

Even the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) agrees that smart meters are a potential threat, especially to people with preexisting health conditions. The group issued a recommendation stating that:

“… no Smart Meters be [in the homes of patients with neurological or neurodegenerative diseases, genetic defects, cancer, and other conditions] and that Smart Meters be removed to a reasonable distance from patients’ homes.”

This would be great if every household that’s been given or offered a smart meter had the option to reject it. But in most cases, customers are forced to accept a smart meter in place of their traditional meter – and if they are offered the choice of an “opt-out,” it’s often with the caveat that the customer pay a monthly penalty fee.

As a conscious consumer, it’s your job, as it is mine, to get the word out about smart meters. Start informing your friends, family members and neighbors about the dangers, and work together to fight against this coercive threat to our collective health.

Student suicide clusters are occurring globally and we seem to be heading to various peak events i.e. 10 students commit suicide in Bristol University (UK) in an 18 month period and 5 students from the University of York in a six month period in 2016. It is clear from both historical and current incidents that no-one, whether psychologist, psychiatrist, counsellor, politician or university chancellor, has a clue why these events are occurring and, more importantly, what to do about them.

Since publishing my last  article here: (https://www.naturalblaze.com/2018/05/student-suicide-clusters-microwave-radiation.html) I have received several emails detailing other suicide clusters from around the world as well as a link from Martin Weatherall of www.weepinitiative.org,  containing a series of articles detailing fairly recent peer review scientific studies on the association between depression, anxiety and EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies). Based on a cursory look at the abstracts of some of these studies, it confirms an ongoing association or trend between exposure to microwave radiation and resultant adverse psychological effects.

I argue within this essay that daily and consistent exposure to both weak and high signal level intensities of microwave radiation results in adverse biological and psychological effects. Within university campus environments, the sources of microwave radiation arise predominantly from WIFI use, smartphone use and various security, student identity protocols, such library book security etc. Frequencies emitted from these devices adversely affect ‘critical groups’ within campus boundaries. These critical groups include (a) electro-hyper-sensitives (EHS), (b) individuals suffering from depression and (c) those taking antidepressant drugs. I also base these assumptions of adverse psychological effects on the many scientific studies carried out over the past 15 years on loss of cognitive function, brain impairment, immune suppression and psychological effects noted by many researchers from all over the world. Not all countries record all data related to these events and due to the mobility of students and other young people, what is recorded is probably an understatement in what is actually going on. For example, the UK only provides partial data because it is only available for England and Wales and excludes Scotland, whilst in Canada, it is difficult to get any data at all on suicides. There is also no mention of the subsequent health of students who graduate, which means that no one is tracking graduate health data when they leave university. The following figure (below) gives year on year trends for student suicides in the UK. In 2016 there were 1.76 million undergraduate students in full time education in 162 UK Higher Education institutions (1)It is against this contextual backdrop that student suicide clusters must be assessed. Nine students from Bristol University committed suicide within a 15 month period and six students from York University within a 6 month period.

What about other student suicide clusters in other parts of the world?

Australia(2)

This report from an Australian newspaper detailed the nature of these clusters: “In one cluster that was identified, 21 young people had taken their lives in a remote town in central Queensland between 2010 and 2012. Fifteen young people died by suicide in a remote northern West Australian town in the same period.” It is not possible to find out what proportion of these young people aged 15 – 24 years old were students. The report also mentioned a rise in self-harm particularly amongst females and this mirrors what occurred in the University of York in 2016. The overall trend for female suicides for the 15 – 24 year group has roughly doubled from 2005 – 2015.

  • Suicide rates for 15 to 24-year-olds at highest rate in 10 years
  • A third of all deaths of young men are due to suicide
  • 41,000 young people aged 12-17 have made a suicide attempt
  • Twice as many 15 to 19-year-old women died by suicide than in 2005
  • Suicide rates have increased for children under the age of 14
  • One-quarter of women aged 16-17 years old have self-harmed
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTIQ, seriously mentally ill youth are at high risk

Canada –

Three students took their own lives between the fall of 2017 and May 2018 at the University of Waterloo. Four students took their own lives at University of Guelph, Ontario in 2017. Six students took their lives in Queens University between 2010 – 2011

USA –

Palo Alto: In 2009, six high school kids committed suicide and between 2010 – 2014 an average of 20 children and young adults killed themselves annually in Santa Clare County(3)  This county is better known as Silicon Valley where software programmers and computer manufacturers reign supreme.

Fairfax County Virginia: In 2014, seven suicides in three years at W.T. Woodson High School and two suicides within 24 hours in the fall of 2017 at Langley High School – all youngsters and by all accounts, everything to live for.

Ohio: During 2018, there were six teen suicides in 6 months in a Ohio school district(3)

Cornell University New York – six students took their own lives in 2010

Wales –

The Bridgend suicides(4) Between January 2007 and February 2009, there were 25 suicides of people aged from 15 to 28 years of age.

All these unusual events have common themes, (a) they concern teens and young adults, (b) reported rates of self-harm have been increasing through time and effects all socio-economic classes and (c) similar methods of suicide were used within the majority of suicide clusters.

Barrie Trower – microwave guru

In 2009 the UK’s ex-Ministry of Defence physicist and renowned microwave weapons expert Barrie Trower said of theBridgend suicides(5)

 “I think I can link them all together and I think it’s a viable reason to look into. We know the suicide rates are rising. The increase in suicides does match the speed of low level microwaves. It’s happening in every country in the world, not just Bridgend.”

In 2008 he wrote a report on the effects of TETRA(7) for the UK Police Federation and he said at the time “waves from the new police radio system could create “anxiety leading to suicide”. His report highlighted the symptoms of electrosensitivity which included depression, lack of concentration, personality changes and suicidal tendencies. He also said young people were particularly susceptible as their immune system was not wholly developedMr Trower went on to add, “It’s the young who get it first,” he said. “The younger you are, your skull is thinner than an adult’s so the waves can go through and your immune system is not fully developed. The suicide rate is leaping up all over the place and it happens to cluster in areas.” skull growth adults and childrenThat report was written in 2008 by a man who worked in the UK armed forces. It is a great pity that there is so much information and data from around the world on the harmful effects on exposure from microwave radiation yet it is mothballed in various countries under the umbrella of ‘military preparedness’ or ‘national security’.

I agree with Barrie Trower’s explanation for student /young people suicide clusters from around the world. If we are to fully open our eyes to what is going on, then we have to accept that (a) the majority of these suicides were not primarily caused by student depression or anxiety, but rather, the root cause of these actions lies in these young people’s exposure to microwave radiation and these frquencies triggered and/or enhanced acute feelings of anxiety and depression (b) university chancellors and mental health organisations and all the think tanks and discussion groups in the world are looking in the wrong places and worse of all, coming up with inappropriate solutions.

Where do we go from here?

 It is clear that universities, schools and colleges have absolutely no idea how to tackle this problem and we are now in unchartered territory in terms of safeguarding students and their well-being. The proliferation of WIFI, smartphones, cordless phones, smart TVs etc. has led to an explosion of electro smog, which our biology has not had time to acclimatise to. As a species we have always been exposed to cosmic sources of microwave radiation and background levels of these modern day pollutants are now billions of times higher. If we allow governments, regulators and industry to do what they want we will also end up with 5G technologies, not just in universities but on the lamp posts in our streets and also in our living room. Much of the hardware and frequencies associated with cell phone towers and WIFI are silent killers and we need to ensure that everyone is acutely aware of their hazards and dangers: the Wifi router in your living room is no different to the cell phone tower 300m away. They emit the same microwave frequencies and initiate exactly the same types of adverse biological and psychological effects. I implore the so-called ‘grown-ups’ within society to think beyond the benefits of the wireless transmission of radio signals. We now have clear evidence that they initiate cancers and should be labelled and treated as environmental poisons. At the very least, university chancellors should initiate research to determine ‘hotspots’ of microwave radiation within their buildings.

More specifically, university chancellors should:

  • Carry out an EMF survey to map out signal strengths of microwave radiation throughout the campus including halls of residence
  • Determine potential and actual body exposures to microwave radiation for their students by analysing how long students spent time in what area of the university and to especially determine body exposures in halls of residences, lecture theatres etc.
  • Determine by questionnaire, how much time each student spends on social media etc. outside university to fully determine 24 hour exposure patterns and duration
  • Ban all microwave-enabled gadgets on campus grounds and fully pursue the Precautionary Principle by ditching WIFI in favour of hard-wired alternatives – that is the first and most vital first step. This may seem draconian but we are discussing a silent killer that has been unleashed on a largely unknowing public and student body with no safety testing at all. I believe all educational establishments should be free of WIFI because no-one asked to be bathed in a soup of toxic frequencies day after day after day.

Until these issues are fully resolved and all causes rigorously investigated, the Precautionary Principle should be uppermost in the minds of those responsible for administering the health and well-being of our children in crèches, schools, high schools and universities. France initiated these measures some years back and by the end of this year (2018) all schools, colleges and crèches will be free of WIFI and cell phone microwave radiation.

We as parents have a role and duty in ensuring that our children’s educational environment should at the very least be a safe and nurturing environment. In that respect, we have to act and not wait for the government, telecoms regulators or telecoms industries to admit that they and their products are the problem – it ain’t gonna happen.

Instead, we should ask anyone providing an educational or other service to our children what they understand about the hazards and dangers in the use of microwave radiation. If we are not happy with their response we should go elsewhere and/or kick up a huge fuss. Thanks to the National Toxicology Programme study on rodents as well as another similar study recently carried out in Italy, we now have clear evidence that exposure to microwave radiation at the frequencies used by the telecoms industries initiates ‘rare’ brain tumours and heart cancers. The NTP rodent study shows that if male rats are exposed to 6 hours per day of cell phone frequencies, these frequencies will initiate rare glioblastoma brain tumours and even rarer schwannomas of the heart muscles i.e. cancer.

It may take some more time for governments and industry to discover the precise mechanisms of how exposure to microwave radiation leads to stress, anxiety and depression. That is why the Precautionary Principle must be brought in; it was designed specifically for these sorts of situations. Editor’s note: This is the first part in a five-part series running all week that will conclude with some interesting suggestions for Skaha Lake Park with an eye to improving the aquatic habitat there.

Two years ago, I decided to do a study that would focus on Skaha Lake Park. The first thing I focused on was this precious piece of flat land. It is surrounded by two lakes, a city and hills to the west and east. It is about half the size of Skaha Lake, divided by a channel and two cultures.

I have had a number of meetings with members of the Penticton Indian Band, all very friendly and very informative. It was recommended I visit the fish hatchery and talk to Norman Johnson, hatchery operations biologist.

I was amazed to see the sophisticated building and equipment which is run by the Okanagan Nation Alliance. This is a $15-million property, a huge surprise to me as I had no knowledge of this prior to my visit. After our last discussion, it was obvious I had to study the Columbia River Treaty.

In 1964 the Columbia River Treaty was negotiated with the U.S. and Canadian governments. B.C.’s part was to store water for flood control and hydro power and to build the Mica, Duncan and Keenleyside dams.

The U.S. built a significant number of dams – generating stations, all on the Columbia River, making the river the largest producer of hydro power in North America.

To ensure the provisions of the Columbia River Treaty were met, BC Hydro and the U.S. Bonneville Power Authority, plus the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were appointed.

The BPA is a non-profit organization and their annual revenue is approximately $3.2 billion. BPA funds one of the largest fish and wildlife programs in the world.

This all sounds like success, but in the process of building the dams they cut off all saltwater fish access to lakes and streams needed for spawning. For our area that included sockeye salmon. This particular fish is an important part of the Aboriginal culture and food chain.

Through means of which I am not aware, the BPA have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to bring back the sockeye salmon by removing dams and putting in fish ladders. By some good fortune we are at the headwaters and have a hatchery here to increase fish stocks.

How often do we ever see a species lost to their environment and then reintroduced? Hardly ever!

U.S. lawmakers warn Canada about Chinese telecom giant Huawei-(Globe and Mail)

Senior lawmakers on U.S. intelligence committees are warning the Trudeau government that Chinese smartphone maker Huawei – which has turned Canada into a key research centre for next-generation mobile technology – is a national-security threat to a network of Canada’s allies.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton and Democratic Senator Mark Warner told The Globe and Mail that the Chinese telecom giant is a grave cybersecurity risk and its smartphones and equipment should not be used by Canada and other Western allies.

Of paramount concern is an all-out drive by the Chinese technology conglomerate to become a world leader in the next-wave 5G telecommunications technology, which is expected to bring near-broadband speeds to smartphones and enable such breakthrough technologies as driverless cars.

What is 5G?

A spokesperson for Mr. Cotton, who has tabled legislation to ban the U.S. government from dealing with Huawei, said he instructed the director of the National Security Agency, Lieutenant-General Paul Nakasone, to “engage with Canadians” and other members of the “Five Eyes” intelligence-sharing community “to educate them on the threat” and keep Huawei out of their 5G networks.

Five Eyes is an intelligence-sharing network among Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Britain and the United States.

Huawei is largely shut out of the U.S. market and Australia is currently considering blocking the Chinese national tech champion from supplying equipment to the construction of 5G telecommunications infrastructure – a move that would further frustrate the Shenzhen-based company’s ambition to be the world leader in this technology.

In Canada, a Globe and Mail investigation last month revealed that universities, governments and phone companies are helping Huawei – now the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world – to develop the ultrafast wireless technology, which it is using for hundreds of patent filings. Canadian universities are a pipeline for intellectual property that bolsters the company’s 5G market position.

Chiefs of six U.S. intelligence agencies and three former heads of Canada’s spy services recently said that Huawei is one of the world’s top cyberintelligence threats and its 5G technology could be used to conduct remote spying and maliciously modify or steal information or even shut down systems.

“Certainly this threat demonstrates the need for a concerted, co-ordinated response among allies,” Mr. Warner said in a statement to The Globe. “The significant U.S. presence – government, corporate and citizen – in Canada, and the vulnerabilities telecom equipment and infrastructure can present, should underscore that concern, as does China’s use of coercion, forced co-operation and co-option to acquire sensitive technologies.”

Mr. Nakasone, who heads the U.S. signals intelligence agency, told the Senate intelligence committee that he would not use Huawei products because the company answers to the ruling Communist Party. Article 7 of China’s 2017 National Intelligence Law says that Chinese companies must “support, co-operate with and collaborate in national intelligence work, and guard the secrecy of national intelligence work they are aware of.”

Two senior members of the intelligence committee in the House of Representatives – ranking Democrat Adam Schiff and Republican Mike Conaway – said national-security concerns should raise alarm bells in any country where Huawei products are sold and could compromise Five Eyes intelligence.

“Given the integration of the U.S. and Canadian economies, Huawei equipment used in Canada is likely to affect both our countries – to our detriment,” Mr. Schiff told The Globe.

Mr. Conaway said: “Huawei poses a serious national-security threat to U.S. government communications. Because of the high level of intelligence sharing between Five Eyes countries, I have concerns that the presence of Huawei in any of these countries could present a significant risk to our co-ordination, and ultimately, U.S. national security as a result.”

Despite these concerns, all major Canadian telecom carriers are now heavily promoting Huawei’s latest smartphone, and Canadian universities have defended the work they do with Huawei, saying they haven’t been told by Canada’s national-security agencies to avoid producing R&D for the Chinese behemoth.

Michael Wessel, a commissioner on the U.S.-China Economic Security Commission, a watchdog that reports to Congress, said Huawei has “dramatically expanded” its relationships with universities around the world, hoping to harvest the best research.

“Huawei’s involvement with Canadian universities raises serious questions as well in light of the strong relationship between U.S. and Canadian technology and telecommunications firms, the integrated nature of our technology infrastructure and the cutting-edge research being done in Canada,” Mr. Wessel said.

“Canada, through its recent rejection of the purchase of Aecon by a Chinese state-owned entry, has shown an increasing sensitivity to Chinese security threats and should act, as the U.S. should, to have their universities quickly sever their ties to Huawei.”

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale did not respond to a request for comment and instead referred The Globe to the Communications Security Establishment, which collects foreign security intelligence and seeks to protect Ottawa’s information systems from cyberattacks.

“While we are unable to comment on specific companies, products or service providers, Canadians can be assured that the Government of Canada is working to make sure the strongest protections are in place to safeguard the systems Canadians rely on,” spokesman Evan Koronewski said.

Huawei vice-president Scott Bradley said his firm has been working “openly and transparently” with the Canadian government and domestic telecoms for a decade to satisfy national-security concerns. He has noted Huawei does not bid on government telecommunications contracts.

“From the outset, we have understood fully as an incoming vendor in the area of telecommunications, let alone a telecommunications company based in China, we would need to work under certain parameters and guidelines to meet the requirements of the government and Canadian operators,” he said. “Similarly, we have had to address these issues in other major markets around the world, including all other G7 nations. In all of these countries, except the United States, we have been able to find a way to meet and address these issues.”

Last week, Mr. Goodale announced $500-million over five years for the establishment of a new Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, measures to help small businesses boost their cyberdefences and the RCMP to tackle online crime. The plan is mostly silent about foreign-owned telecommunications companies such as Huawei.

Former Canadian Security Intelligence Services directors Ward Elcock and Richard Fadden, and John Adams, the former head of this country’s CSE, have told The Globe that Huawei products and 5G technology could provide China with the capacity to spy on Canadians.

Since arriving in Canada a decade ago, Huawei has committed about $50-million to 10 leading Canadian universities to fund 5G technology, which it used as the basis for hundreds of patent filings. The amount the company gives to universities is expected to grow to about $18-million this year alone.

Unapproved genetically modified wheat found in Canada

June 15, 2018. Halifax – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced the discovery of unapproved genetically modified (GM, also called genetically engineered) wheat near a farm in Alberta, but says the contamination is an isolated event.(1)

“We’re relieved this is an isolated contamination case but we’re concerned that the government couldn’t determine how it happened. Without knowing the cause, contamination could happen again,” said Lucy Sharratt of the Canadian Biotechnology Action Network (CBAN).

Monsanto’s glyphosate-tolerant GM trait was found in several wheat plants on a road in southern Alberta in 2017. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency was unable to identify the cause.

“A less isolated GM wheat contamination incident could be devastating to Canadian farmers and the future of our wheat exports,” Thibault Rehn of the Quebec network Vigilance OGM, “We can’t afford to be careless with GM crops because it’s difficult or impossible to reverse contamination once it occurs.”

Canada is a major wheat-producing nation. Wheat crops contribute $11 billion annually to Canada’s economy.

Genetically modified wheat is not approved by any government and is therefore illegal. No GM wheat has ever been commercially grown or sold in any country in the world. Monsanto last grew test plots of wheat with this GM trait in 2004 in Canada.

In 2004, Monsanto withdrew its request for approval of its GM herbicide-tolerant (glyphosate-tolerant) “Roundup Ready” wheat in Canada and the US due to pressure from farmers and consumers along with international market rejection.

There have been three contamination incidents in the US with Monsanto’s GM wheat – in 2016, 2014 and 2013. In 2013, several countries suspended wheat imports from the US after GM wheat plants were discovered in a farmer’s field. The US government was unable to determine the cause of that contamination. “Farmers should be consulted before GM crops are tested outside the lab. We need to determine if the economic risk is too high to field-test certain GM crops,” said Sharratt.

The exact locations of experimental GM crop field trials in Canada are not disclosed.

“We need to protect our bread basket from rogue GM traits,” said Sharratt.

(Natural News) (Opinion analysis) The Clean Label Project is engaged in dangerous scientific fraud that misleads consumers into thinking perfectly safe protein powders are wildly contaminated with toxic heavy metals. That’s my conclusion after reviewing the Clean Label Project’s wildly unscientific attack on protein products such as VEGA, where the Clean Label Project seems to insinuate that “detectable” levels of elements somehow means the products are scandalous.

Note that I am the very person who pioneered heavy metals testing of protein products back in 2013, raising the alarm over relatively high levels of lead and cadmium found in certain products that used rice protein imported from Asia. I’m also the author of Food Forensics and the founder and director of CWC Labs, an ISO-accredited food contamination laboratory running multiple mass spec instruments (including ICP-MS for elemental analysis). Finally, I’m the creator of LowHeavyMetalsVerified.org, a heavy metals standard that we’ve openly published for the food industry. I created the standard in 2013, and it’s what we use for all our own products.

When I ran tests on protein powders in 2013, I released the raw data to the public, naming the precise concentrations of elements (in ppb) detected in various protein products. Because of that effort, many protein companies reformulated their products, and in the years since, I have repeatedly tested many different brands and have not yet found heavy metals levels alarming enough to issue any sort of public warning about them.

Yet, the Clean Label Project is running a “black box” junk science operation in which they rate protein products between one to five stars without disclosing their lab results.

Clean Label Project engaged in massive deception and fraud

I have found the ratings system of the Clean Label Project to be not merely dishonest and unethical, but downright fraudulent. Here’s a good example: The Vega One Plant-Based Mixed Berry All-In-One Shake product is labeled by the Clean Label Project as just one star out of five. In the “Results Summary” section, “1 out of 5” ratings are given to “Arsenic / Mercury” and “Cadmium / Lead,” implying that this Vega One product is dangerously contaminated with Arsenic, Mercury, Cadmium and Lead.

As an ISO-accredited laboratory directory and heavy metals expert in food contamination, I can assure you that Vega One protein products contain no dangerous levels of these elements. I know this because I began testing Vega products in 2013, and I found that Vega proteins were among the cleanest in the industry.

Based on my experience in testing these products, it is my experience that Vega One proteins will have less than 100 ppb of lead (or 0.1 ppm), near-zero mercury, and very low levels of arsenic or cadmium (likely below 50 ppb in most cases).

This idea that because some parts per billion of lead is “detectable” is somehow an alarming thing is complete scientific nonsense. I’ve learned that lesson myself, as I received such a backlash from releasing mass spec test results on trace chemicals found in bone broth products that I had to pull back the original announcements and re-issue clarifications that calmed some of the over-reaction in the mind of the public.

What I know as a food contamination scientist is that if you have enough sensitivity in your instruments, you can find some trace level of lead in nearly everything. Lead being “detectable” does not make it dangerous. It is the concentration and total daily intake that makes it dangerous, and Vega One protein products are nowhere near any level of alarm in my opinion — not even close.

Similarly, I’ve never seen a sample of honey without a trace of glyphosate in it. That statement may surprise some people, but it’s true.

Rarely do I see a food sample with zero ppb of lead. While I very often see mercury (Hg) at zero ppb, lead is usually above zero for most foods. For certain foods such as turmeric root, ginger root and many spices, lead can be alarmingly high in certain samples. For example, we won’t sell turmeric root with lead above 250 ppb, and from time to time we are able to source turmeric root powder with lead below 50 ppb. (That’s 0.05 ppm, in case you’re keeping track.)

The Clean Label Project uses a failed, fraudulent model for assigning ratings for heavy metals

Further adding to the science fraud being carried out by the Clean Label Project, the organization claims to assign star ratings as follows:

The star-rating you see tells you whether the product is average (3 stars), below average (1 star), or above average (5 stars) in terms of the overall purity (lower levels of contaminants) and/or higher in elements of nutritional superiority compared to other similar products in the category.

The problem with such an approach — which should be obvious — is that there are no absolute standards for pass / fail concentrations of potentially toxic elements.

In other words, if the Clean Label Project tests 20 products in a given category and they’re all very clean, some of those products will still receive a one-star rating because they have slightly more lead (for example) than the other products, even if all 20 are remarkably clean.

This approach also means that the Clean Label Project could toss out a particularly high-lead product in order to skew the results curve and make many clean products look contaminated by comparison. Yet the Clean Label Project does not explain how they decide which products to include or exclude from their analysis, and they fail to release raw results from the lab tests.

In essence the Clean Label Project is a black box of junk science with near-zero transparency and no accountability whatsoever. They ask the public to trust their ratings but won’t release the raw test results data. The even lump arsenic and mercury together — and cadmium and lead — for a completely illogical, inexplicable reason that only they could possibly understand. There is no mass spec instrument in the world that cannot tell the difference between arsenic and mercury, as their mass-to-charge ratios are very far apart. The same goes with cadmium and lead. No instruments confuse cadmium and lead.

The Clean Label Project is “playing dirty,” writes Dr. Chad Hayes:

The thing that invalidates their data is that they don’t publish it. Their methodology section provides a list of things they test for, but they lump some of them into broad categories like “antibiotics” or “pesticides.” An actual scientific study would provide a list of the specific substances.

Why is this important? Well, testing positive for “pesticides” could mean a lot of different things. Some pesticides are more toxic than others, and some are harmless below a certain dose. It’s also important because if they tested for pesticides used in conventional agriculture but not those used by organic farmers, the results would be heavily skewed. But we don’t know which ones they looked for, because CLP won’t tell us.

Another really important detail that actual scientific researchers would have published is the amount of specific contaminants found in each food or formula. It’s important to know whether a substance was present in high concentrations or if it was barely detectable. As with any potentially toxic substance (including, say, water), the dose is key. Even if we knew what substances were found in each food, we would have no idea if it mattered or not without this vital detail.

The bottom line? The Clean Label Project needs to clean up its own labeling, because what it’s releasing to the public right now is pure hogwash alarmism and nonsense.

The Clean Label Project needs to come clean about its lab test results

It is my view that the Clean Label Project is dangerously misleading customers and raising false alarms over “detectable” lead levels in many products that have no lead problem whatsoever (the same goes for cadmium, arsenic, etc.).

I also believe the Clean Label Project is deliberately hiding its lab test results because the raw data would clearly show those products to be perfectly safe and clean.

By withholding the raw lab data from the public, the Clean Label Project all but confirms suspicious among informed scientists like myself that they have something to hide and don’t want to come clean with their own raw data.

So today, I am joining the Natural Products Association in demanding the Clean Label Project cease and desist its fraudulent science hoaxes that target dietary supplements.

As the Natural Product Association wrote in a March 1 press release:

“This so-called ‘study’ doesn’t even rise to the level of junk science because there’s no science in it at all. This fake news poisons the well with misinformation and innuendo and could actually threaten the ability to protect consumers from harmful products,” said Dan Fabricant, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Natural Products Association. “NPA believes this shadow group should disclose its funders and the methodology it used to produce this study so the public can make an educated decision about what products to use.”

As a published food scientist and founder of an ISO-accredited food science laboratory, I complete agree with this statement by Dan Fabricant. The Clean Label Project is a fraud. Its claims are deceptive and harmful to consumers. The Clean Label Project gives “science” a bad name because it pretends to engage in science while, in reality, conducts no legitimate science at all.

Why won’t the Clean Label Project release the raw results of its testing?

Today, I am demanding that the Clean Label Project publicly release the raw data to myself and other qualified food scientists who can properly interpret those data with the benefit of lab science experience combined with food transparency.

The lab that ran the tests — Ellipse Analytics — appears to have undisclosed ties to the Clean Label Project founder. As Dr. Hayes writes:

Except that the “independent lab,” Ellipse Analytics (EA) doesn’t seem all that independent. It’s a relatively new lab located in the same city as CLP. EA’s website doesn’t provide a lot of information. But if you check out the LinkedIn profile for Jaclyn Bowen, you’ll find that she served as the President of Ellipse Analytics from April 2016- January 2017 prior to her current role as the Executive Director at Clean Label Project. And apparently, the pet food data for the original study was provided to CLP by EA as a “generous donation.”

In conclusion, real science is supposed to be about transparency, not black box algorithms and secret scoring systems that the public isn’t allowed to see. By concealing this information from the public while sounding a false alarm about clean, safe protein products, the Clean Label Project actually performs a disservice to the public, leading many consumers to avoid products which are, in reality, very nutritious and clean.

In fact, I’m starting to wonder whether the Clean Label Project is some sort of shady front group formed to attack and smear the reputation of dietary supplements. I’m not leveling that as a confirmed accusation at this point, but it’s something I’m beginning to suspect.

(Natural News) Every single one of us is involved in a war that we probably know nothing about. There are villains and heroes on both sides of the battle, and the battleground is littered with landmines that have to be navigated every single day. What is this war? The epic battle between conventional medicine and natural health.

You see, every time you take a supplement, get medication at the pharmacy, eat a meal, choose whether or not to exercise, or make one of a thousand other small choices, you are choosing sides between modern medicine that promises to medicate all your symptoms away with little effort required on your part, or natural health, which demands that you take responsibility for your own well-being by what you choose to eat and drink, how much exercise you do, and even how you manage your stress levels.

There are well-intentioned, caring individuals on both sides of this war. There is no doubt that unscrupulous individuals who care little about others make money from both allopathic and complementary medicine – both are billion-dollar industries, after all. Nonetheless, even the most caring and devoted practitioner of modern medicine can offer only one solution to long-term, chronic health issues: drugs to take away the symptoms. And when those drugs cause other symptoms, that kindly doctor will simply prescribe more medications. Until, finally, like 99 percent of all elderly people, you end up taking a handful of pills every day, all while feeling terrible and having virtually no quality of life.

Natural health, on the other hand, focuses on the total, holistic, overall health of the individual. It emphasizes the prevention of illness by healthy eating, eliminating processed, chemical-laden foods, getting lots of sunshine and fresh air, exercising regularly and managing stress in healthy ways.

And that is why the battle rages on. For modern medicine to function, and for doctors, hospitals and pharmacies to make money, lots of people need to get sick, and they need to get sick often. Since complementary medicine eliminates the causes of many illnesses – including “so-called” lifestyle diseases – the medical community goes on the attack, calling those who practice this type of medicine quacks and charlatans.

There is no doubt that acute medicine – emergency medical treatment – saves thousands of lives every day.  Every single one of us is grateful that if a loved one is involved in a car accident or gets hurt on the sports field etc., they can get the professional care that they need to make a full recovery. And we are immensely grateful for the antibiotics which can treat life-threatening bacterial infections like meningitis or even a simple cut that could have proved lethal 100 years ago.

However, there is a darker side to medicine that counts on us obediently following instructions, taking the medications we’re told to take without ever making any lifestyle changes that, like a landmine on a battlefield, is a hidden but lethal danger. Doctors receive almost no training in medical school about preventative medicine or nutrition, and yet their conviction that they know best, the “God-complex” that many exhibit, means that they are unwilling to recognize the gaping hole in their education. And while many doctors are doubtless caring individuals, we all know of doctors who entered the medical field simply to make money – and lots of it.

The fact is, from the cradle to the grave, we are fed propaganda that makes us believe that we need far more medical help than we really do. Yes, we’re grateful that doctors are there in an emergency, but when it comes to treating the whole person, preventing the very diseases that allopathic medicine promises to treat, you simply cannot beat doing it the natural way. (Natural News) Bayer is expected to finish off its $62.5 billion purchasing deal with Monsanto this week — and plans to retire the infamous “Monsanto” name are already in gear. But even if the name Monsanto becomes a thing of the past, the company’s dirty deeds and hazardous products will continue to live on.

Bayer certainly knows a thing or two about re-branding to save face; once known as I.G. Farben, the company engaged in a number of disgusting acts back in the day, including using Jewish slave laborers during the Holocaust. Changing their name to Bayer has not mitigated this fact — though it certainly has helped the company remain profitable.

It’s sadly almost fitting that these two companies have ended up together, as both Bayer and Monsanto have a history of committing crimes against humanity. Unfortunately, this wicked pairing will spell disaster for the rest of us.

Changing names means nothing

As the merging of Bayer and Monsanto draws closer, Bayer has revealed that once combined, the name Monsanto will cease to exist. Instead, Monsanto and its products will simply become part of the Bayer “family.”

But will relabeling Roundup as a Bayer product change the fact that it’s toxic and makes people sick? No. Will the independent media suddenly stop reporting on their cancer-causing glyphosate and pernicious GMO products? Absolutely not. Monsanto may disappear in name, but its legacy of toxicity and disregard for human life will unfortunately live on — and people are right to be worried about what comes next.

While the name Bayer may not currently draw as much ire as the name Monsanto does, it should — and perhaps one day it will. The Bayer company’s history is just as sordid and twisted as Monsanto’s, after all.

Over 20 years ago, Helge Wehmeier, then-head of Bayer Corp, publicly apologized to the late Elie Wiesel and other Holocaust survivors for the egregiously inhumane actions of I.G. Farben.

“I have sorrow and regret and apologize for the inhumanity in my country for what I.G. Farben did to your people,” Wehmeier said to Wiesel during a lecture in 1995. Wiesel was one of many Jewish slave laborers used by the company during the Holocaust. The company was also reportedly heavily invested in the development of Zyklon B, a toxic insecticide.

Bayer’s dark past

I.G. Farben scientists also conducted experiments on their captive slaves. In 2003, Holocaust survivor Zoe Polanska Palmer spoke out about her experiences as a Nazi test subject. Many SS doctors reportedly worked for Bayer’s parent company, I.G. Farben, including Dr. Victor Capesius and Dr. Helmut Vetter — both of whom were tried and convicted for various war crimes, with the latter being executed after the war. Capesius, Polanska Palmer says, is the doctor who experimented on her, and witnesses say he worked for Bayer.

Ms. Polanska Palmer was not alone; countless children were reportedly abducted and experimented on. In the late 1990’s, Eva Mozes Kor launched her own lawsuit against Bayer, claiming that the company supervised the purchasing of her and her twin from Nazis and that they were then used as “guinea pigs” by the infamous Josef Mengele. Kor alleges that she and other children were purposely infected with a host of diseases “to test the effectiveness of various drugs manufactured by Bayer.”

Ms. Kor stated at the time, “After 54 years, it is time that Bayer takes responsibility for their actions.” In addition to financial restitution, Kor said she wants to hear an actual apology. While Bayer has admitted to the use of slave labor, the company has not readily disclosed the other acts of evil their parent company was involved in.

In 2003, in response to Ms. Polanska Palmer’s claims, Bayer contended that the name Bayer didn’t even exist between 1925 and 1952, and so, the company we know today had nothing to do with I.G. Farben. Really?

As sources explain, I.G. Farben has never truly stopped existing. Even though the Allies broke up the company due to their evil and inhumane activities, it simply became three new companies: Bayer, Hoechst and BASF. As of 2012, I.G. Farben still existed as a company in liquidation.

Is Bayer really as far removed from I.G. Farben as it claims to be?
